Speaking about DFID’s partnership with UNDP, Richard Montgomery, Head of DFID Pakistan said, “As we move towards the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) which will be agreed towards the end of the year and with significant development challenges looming globally it is important for DFID to continue to work closely and build upon some of the commendable work of partners such as UNDP – especially in complex and challenging environments such as Pakistan. UNDP has a unique mandate derived from its United Nations’ membership. DFID maintains a close relationship with the UNDP in Pakistan on a number of areas including gender, governance, strengthening democracy and supporting the rehabilitation of IDPs from FATA.”

DFID’s support is valuable and essential for UNDP to continue promoting sustainable development in the country.  DFID has funded UNDP’s projects on voter education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Report on Climate Public Expenditure Institutional Review, and supported the Return and Rehabilitation Strategy for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

The work of UNDP Pakistan is made possible by the personal, financial, and professional commitments of its international and national partners. UNDP engage in an array of development partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders, both national and international, working together in all phases of the development cycle, from programme design, implementation, review and revision, to lessons learned and best practices. Our partners play a crucial role in promoting and financing strategies that will help developing countries to achieve their national development goals.
