Lachi Poverty Reduction ProjectDec 24, 2008Lachi Poverty Reduction Project started in March 2000 as a transition from a pilot project called South Asia Poverty Alleviation Programme (SAPAP ). LPRP was a community based integrated poverty alleviation programme and operated in six union councils (though it mostly focused on three union councils ) of Tehsil Lachi of Kohat district of North West Frontier Province from March 2000 to 2005. It was implemented by Sarhad Rural Support Progeramme (SRSP) as an independent project. At the field level, all project activities were carried out through grassroots community organizations on cost sharing basis.
The project’s implementation approach was based on the principles of social mobilization and as a first step, all potential beneficiaries were organized in the form of grassroots Community Organizations (COs) separately for men and women.
National Climate Change Policy Sep 12, 2012The National Climate Change Policy provides a framework for addressing the issues that Pakistan faces or will face in future due to the changing climate. In October 2008, Mr. Salman Faruqui, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, established a Task Force on Climate Change under Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad, Advisor Science and Technology. The report of that Task Force has been used as a building block for the preparation of this policy. Furthermore, extensive consultations with provincial and federal ministries, institutions and civil society provided valuable inputs to the policy document.
Federalism: 18th AmendmentJun 12, 2012The report highlights the challenges, implementation gaps, and opportunities regarding the implementation of the 18th Constitutional Amendment in Pakistan. The report has two major sections: i) The basis of a new vision of Federalism and ii) Provincial Progress and Perspectives.
