FATA Sustainable Return and Rehabilitation Strategy

FATA Sustainable Return and Rehabilitation Strategy

April 6, 2015

The Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) remains one of the most underdeveloped regions of Pakistan. The latest wave of displacement has brought the total FATA displacement caseload up to an estimated 310,729 families – around 2 million displaced people – of which around 70% are women and children. Although the Government and its humanitarian partners are continuing their important efforts to provide relief to this vulnerable population, more sustainable solutions need to be put in place to support the return of the displaced people to their areas of origin.

The FATA Secretariat has taken the lead in developing a Sustainable Return and Rehabilitation Strategy to ensure the progressive and sustainable return of the entire displaced population to FATA. This comprehensive strategy aims to establish an enabling environment in the displaced people’s areas of origin in FATA.
