Dreams are for Real: Building a Future for Vulnerable Youth
The youth of Lyari, Korangi and Sultanabad grow up in conflict-ridden neighbourhoods. Limited education and resources lead to bleak futures where dreams and ambition are non-existent. The Youth Employment Project supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has been a beacon of hope for this segment of society.
This documentary takes one to the streets of Lyari and Korangi, capturing their harsh realities. It shows how the project is providing skills development and employment opportunities, thereby improving young people’s livelihoods by scientifically designed quality training.
Representatives from the garment industry and the Sindh Government’s technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institute speak of how the project has bridged communication gaps and introduced upgraded and demand-driven curricula.
