How UNDP supported Ulfat to receive paralegal training

February 28, 2021

Ulfat Shaheen is a resident of Chitral. She has Master’s degree in English and teaches at a local college.

She received Paralegal training conducted by UNDP. That training has enabled to work in her area and offer mediation services for dispute resolution in her community. The process starts by her mediation between the opposing sides. Quite often, that is enough and the matter gets resolved amicably. In case it does not, then Ulfat approaches community elders and involves them in the process. If that fails to reach a resolution, then she guides them to appropriate lawyers so that the matter can be taken to court and follow the legal process.

She is very proud of her role in the community and is thankful to UNDP for making it happen.
