Continuing its commitment to the principle of ‘Leave No One Behind’, UNDP supported the inclusion of a transgender person, Ms. Aisha Mughal, in the official delegation of Pakistan to attend the review session of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) on 12 February 2020 in Geneva. It was a historic moment for the country as it was the first time ever that a transgender person was provided an opportunity to be part of the reporting procedure at an official treaty body review.

UNDP also provided technical assistance to the development of the rights bill which culminated into the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act 2018 that is aimed towards improving the social integration of transgender persons in order to overcome centuries-old deep rooted inequalities.
