Two weeks ago, a member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly’s Sustainable Development Goals Taskforce wanted to initiate a movement to ban plastic bags in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and discussed it with representatives of the UNDP.  This was added to the agenda of a pre-planned SDG Taskforce planning session. Eco-friendly bags were produced by the Strengthening Electoral and Legislative Processes (SELP) project to support the message around SDG 12 which is based on Responsible Consumption and Production.

The SDG Taskforce has now adopted a plan to introduce a resolution in the KP Assembly to ban plastic bags along with events across the province to reach out to the public and other institutions for implementation.  Meanwhile,  SELP is no longer producing plastic-based bags, etc for its events.
